Patient Perceptions of Telehealth Use in Head and Neck Cancer Surveillance

What are the perceptions and needs of head and neck cancer (HNC) survivors regarding use of telehealth for surveillance?In this qualitative study of 24 individuals who had received treatment for HNC, participants prioritized minimizing costs, but telehealth was less acceptable than in-person visits for initial posttreatment surveillance. Participants were more amenable to a hybrid model of in-person and telehealth care 2 years after HNC treatment.The findings suggest that patients prefer in-person visits for initial posttreatment HNC surveillance but a hybrid model is potentially acceptable for surveillance beyond 2 years after HNC treatment.
