Endoscopic Sinus Surgery for Recurrent Acute Rhinosinusitis

Does endoscopic sinus surgery with continued medical treatment improve quality of life and other patient-related outcomes more than medical treatment alone in recurrent acute rhinosinusitis?In this open-label, randomized clinical trial of 59 patients with recurrent acute rhinosinusitis, operative treatment alongside medical treatment improved sinonasal quality of life, whereas medical treatment alone did not. The mean SinoNasal Outcome Test 22 score change from baseline to 6 months was 22 points greater after endoscopic sinus surgery compared to medical treatment only (difference, 22 points [95% CI, 14-31 points]).In recurrent acute rhinosinusitis, endoscopic sinus surgery was superior to medical treatment alone in patient-related outcomes without major problems.
