Mobile Application as a Digital Therapeutic for Chronic Tinnitus

Can a mobile app be effective as a medical device to treat chronic tinnitus?In this randomized clinical trial including 30 patients with tinnitus, patients who used a mobile app that delivered educational counseling and cognitive behavioral therapy elements showed substantial and lasting improvement in tinnitus-related distress and functional impairment compared with patients who used a sham-control app having no therapeutic content.These findings suggest that this therapeutic mobile app for treating tinnitus may be an effective and standardized intervention for individuals with chronic tinnitus.
