Concordance Between an Adaptive Sino-Nasal Outcome Test and Imaging Results in Chronic Rhinosinusitis

Can a novel adaptive test establish concordance between subjective chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) symptom scores and objective radiographic findings of disease severity?This diagnostic study of 417 patients with CRS imaging found that adaptive Sino-Nasal Outcome Test (SNOT) outcomes were associated with imaging results (Lund-Mackay scores), particularly for the nasal domain, and for all-domains at a Lund-Mackay threshold of 5. However, the standard 22-item Sino-Nasal Outcome Test scores were not associated with imaging results.Adaptive SNOT results demonstrated concordance with imaging results, while reducing the number of questions posed; these are distinct characteristics that could enhance synergy between research and daily clinical care.
