Sustained Locoregional Control With Deintensified Chemoradiotherapy for HPV Oropharyngeal Carcinoma

What are long-term outcomes among patients with human papillomavirus (HPV)–associated oropharyngeal carcinoma treated with definitive deintensified (chemo)radiotherapy?In this cohort study of 240 patients with HPV-associated oropharyngeal carcinoma treated with definitive deintensified 60-Gy (chemo)radiotherapy, concurrent with weekly cisplatin, 30 mg/m, in the majority of patients, the 5-year locoregional recurrence rate was 3.4%.Modest dose deintensification of 60-Gy radiotherapy in patients with HPV-associated oropharyngeal carcinoma is associated with favorable rates of locoregional control.
