Comparison of Diet and Lifestyle Program With 3 Medication Approaches for Laryngopharyngeal Reflux Disease Management

What are the most effective therapeutic regimens in laryngopharyngeal reflux disease?In this cohort study including 145 patients, patients following a strict low-fat, low–quick-release sugar, high-protein diet and wellness activity program for 3 months demonstrated higher therapeutic response rates and lower posttreatment reflux symptom scores compared with those treated with a moderate diet and medications.Adherence to a strict antireflux diet and stress-reduction activities was associated with lower reflux symptom scores compared with antacid therapy and numerically higher response rates compared with all medication groups, although the change in symptoms over time did not differ between treatments.
