What is the rate of otolaryngologists performing balloon sinus dilation (BSD) on 6 sinuses? In this cross-sectional study of 522 otolaryngologists, 12 799 patients who underwent BSD received dilation to all 6 sinuses. Forty otolaryngologists in the US perform BSD of all 6 sinuses in 100% of patients with Medicare. The study results suggest that many patients receive BSD to all 6 sinuses and a small group of otolaryngologists consistently performed BSD on all 6 sinuses, demonstrating a high degree of uniformity in their treatment approach that was inconsistent with the limited indicated for BSD.
