What medical comorbidities, behavioral health profiles, and medication use patterns are associated with increased prevalence of voice disorders in adolescents? In this survey study of 502 adolescents, multiple risk factors for voice problems in adolescents were identified. Risk factors included family history of voice disorders, anxiety, depression, acid reflux, gastrointestinal issues, diabetes, asthma, dysphagia, cardiac problems, speech problems, breathing issues, inhaler use, and other medications. These findings suggest that voice problem prevalence in adolescents may be associated with medical history, behavioral health profile, and medicinal intake.
