Ocular Manifestations of Biopsy-Proven B Virus Infection with Central Nervous System Involvement

What are the ocular manifestations in a patient with systemic B virus (also referred to as , , and ) infection?In this case report, ocular features of B virus infection included anterior uveitis, vitritis, multifocal chorioretinitis, vasculitis, and optic nerve involvement. Treatment included systemic and intravitreal ganciclovir and, for anti-inflammation, corticosteroids.Timely diagnosis and initiation of antiviral therapy may be crucial to reduce risk of infection-related blindness and mortality; this case report supports the need to be aware of potential ophthalmic involvement in B virus infections, including patients with central nervous system symptoms.
