What are the visual acuity outcomes and complications 5 years following lensectomy for unilateral pediatric traumatic cataract?In this cohort study among 75 children, of whom only half had 5-year follow-up, most had subnormal vision (median visual acuity [VA] 20/63 in 29 pseudophakic eyes and 20/258 in 8 aphakic eyes). Cumulative incidence of glaucoma was 9% with and without an intraocular lens; approximately half of pseudophakic eyes needed surgery for visual axis obscuration.Five years following lensectomy for pediatric traumatic cataract, there was substantial ocular morbidity, including residual vision loss.
