For children with surgically managed primary congenital glaucoma, how does visual rehabilitation with rigid gas-permeable contact lenses (RGPCLs) compare with continued spectacle wear regarding visual acuity improvement? In this randomized clinical trial of 56 children, the RGPCL group showed significantly greater best-corrected visual acuity improvement by approximately 2 lines in the worse-seeing eye.Although the number of participants evaluated was relatively low, these findings suggest that RGPCLs provide superior visual acuity gains compared with continued spectacle wear for children with poor spectacle response after primary congenital glaucoma surgery.
