What are the outcomes of initial trabeculectomy with mitomycin C in patients of Hispanic descent compared with those in patients of European descent?In this matched cohort study of 222 eyes, success rates of initial trabeculectomy with mitomycin C were lower in patients of Hispanic descent compared with patients of European descent, according to various success criteria used.These findings highlight the need for better strategies to regulate wound healing following trabeculectomy and highlight the importance of conducting prospective studies with larger cohorts to assess glaucoma surgical outcomes in patients of Hispanic descent.
