Identifying High-Risk Smoldering Multiple Myeloma for Early Intervention

How does the Mayo Clinic 2/20/20 risk stratification model compare to the AQUILA trial criteria in terms of risk group distribution and progression risk for individuals with smoldering multiple myeloma (SMM)?In this cohort study including 2 separate cohorts of 193 and 1147 individuals, respectively, the AQUILA trial criteria placed more individuals in the high-risk group compared with the 2/20/20 model. Additionally, the high-risk group by AQUILA trial criteria had significantly lower progression risk compared with the 2/20/20 high-risk group.This cohort study found that the 2/20/20 model identified a smaller proportion of individuals with high-risk SMM with higher progression risk.
