Outcomes of Older Adults With Advanced Cancer Who Prefer Quality of Life vs Prolonging Survival

Do outcomes differ between older adults with advanced cancer who prioritize maintaining quality of life vs extending survival?In this secondary analysis of a large cluster randomized clinical trial including 706 patients, 506 patients (71.7%) prioritized maintaining quality of life over survival. No significant differences were identified in survival, hospitalization, or treatment-related adverse effects between groups.The current oncology care delivery system may not be responsive to the preferences of older adults with advanced cancer.
