Clonal Hematopoiesis and Cardiovascular Disease Risk After Cancer Therapy in Patients With Solid Tumors

Is clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP) associated with increased risk of therapy-related cardiovascular disease among patients receiving chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or immunotherapy?In this cohort study of 8004 participants, CHIP was associated with higher risk of heart failure in patients receiving cardiotoxic cancer therapies, with effects more pronounced among those receiving higher cumulative doses of chemotherapy.CHIP testing may improve cardiovascular risk stratification in oncology patients and support earlier cardio-oncology consultation, monitoring, and risk-based primary prevention strategies for high-risk cancer survivors.
