Childhood Cancer Survivorship Globally

What is the global distribution of childhood cancer survivorship research?In this systematic review of 1558 studies, childhood cancer survivorship research from 1980 to 2021 was more frequently published in high-income countries despite low-income and middle-income countries facing the greatest burden of childhood cancer. Studies focused on physical effects as opposed to mental health, health promotion, and disease prevention.The study findings suggest that with a growing and diverse population of childhood cancer survivors globally, opportunities for research improvement exist, including expansion of studies in low-income and middle-income countries and underexplored areas of focus, creation of standardized reporting guidelines, and development of clinical survivorship guidelines that are tailored to resource contexts.
