Clinical and Nonclinical Factors and Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Interventions

For late preterm and term newborns, are nonclinical factors—maternal socioeconomic status (SES), remoteness of residence, and birth-site level of service—associated with odds of advanced neonatal resuscitation interventions (ANRIs)?In this cross-sectional study of nearly 1 million births, maternal SES and maternal residence remoteness were not associated with higher odds of receiving ANRI. Birth sites with lower levels of service were associated with higher odds of chest compressions. The findings of this study highlight a need to improve neonatal resuscitation in settings with lower levels of service.
