Urgent Care Stewardship for Glucocorticoid Overuse in Acute Respiratory Infections

Is a glucocorticoid stewardship program using clinician education and peer comparison feedback associated with reduced inappropriate glucocorticoid prescribing for acute respiratory infections in urgent care?In this quality improvement study of 10 808 patients seen by 96 clinicians, 14 530 eligible visits occurred (7130 before and 7400 during stewardship). The mean clinician-level rate per 100 stewardship-eligible visits of systemic glucocorticoid prescriptions was 20.4 before stewardship and 8.8 during the stewardship period.The multifaceted stewardship program was associated with reductions in glucocorticoid prescribing.
