Sex Differences in Self-Rated Health and Cardiovascular Disease Events

Is self-rated health associated with the development of cardiovascular disease (CVD), and does this association differ by sex?In this cohort study of 170 197 participants, poorer self-rated health was associated with higher rates of new CVD, with a greater relative hazard in women compared with men.These findings support the use of a simple self-assessment of health to aid in risk stratification in the primary prevention of CVD.
