Sexual Orientation and Burnout Among Emergency Medicine Residents

Is sexual orientation associated with burnout among emergency medicine residents?In this cross-sectional study of 7852 emergency medicine residents, sexual minority residents had higher prevalence of internal burnout (39% vs 32%) and any burnout (54% vs 47%) compared with heterosexual peers. After adjustment, sexual minority status remained associated with higher internal burnout and any burnout.This study found that sexual minority emergency medicine residents experienced higher burnout rates, highlighting the need for targeted wellness interventions and inclusive training environments.
