How are coping strategies and social support associated with self-reported transition readiness in young adults with sickle cell disease (SCD) transitioning to adult care?In this cross-sectional study using baseline data from a randomized trial of 373 young adults with SCD (aged 17-25 years), problem-focused coping and social support were associated with higher transition readiness from pediatric to adult hematology care. These findings suggest that young adults with SCD with higher levels of problem-focused coping skills and social support are more likely to have higher transition readiness scores.
