Contraceptive Progestogens and Incident Meningioma

What is the association between the use of different contraceptive progestogens and the risk of meningioma?In this 25-year nationwide case-control study, the use of several contraceptive progestogens was associated with an increased risk of meningioma. Odds ratios of meningioma were generally higher for current or recent use within the past year.These findings suggest that the risk of meningioma may extend beyond high-dose progestogens and medroxyprogesterone injections to include some contraceptive progestogens, including high-dose intrauterine devices with levonorgestrel.
