Does hospital-based assertive case management (ACM) reduce suicidal thoughts and behaviors in high-risk outpatients with major depressive disorder (MDD)?In this randomized clinical trial including 314 participants, ACM achieved a significantly greater reduction in Columbia–Suicide Severity Rating Scale total scores compared with standard care at 6 months. These findings suggest that hospital-based psychosocial ACM effectively complemented care for high-risk outpatients with MDD, thereby providing evidence to scale national suicide prevention policies.
