What is the efficacy of Warrior Renew, a group treatment using cognitive and reprocessing strategies, compared with an active control treatment targeting health and well-being, for symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) associated with military sexual trauma (MST)?In this randomized clinical trial of 140 veterans, both types of treatment showed efficacy in reducing PTSD symptoms, but the MST-focused group demonstrated greater improvements in posttraumatic cognitions, such as reducing self-blame. Both treatments had low dropout rates (around 11%).Findings of this trial indicate that the MST-focused treatment is well tolerated and effective for treating PTSD symptoms at clinically meaningful levels of change for people who have experienced MST.
