Adolescent Responses to Coercive Requests for Sexual Images

What incident and youth characteristics are associated with responses to coercive requests for images?In this survey study of 6204 young adults, the risk of sharing sexual images before the age of 18 years in response to coercive requests was significantly higher when requests were made by dating partners. Sharing an image in response to coercion was associated with reduced disclosure rates despite significantly greater negative outcomes for adolescents.Prevention messages for adolescents should highlight the harm caused by coercive requests for sexual images and increase help-seeking options.
