Cost-Related Delayed or Forgone Care and Emergency Department Visits Among Latino Adults

What is the association between cost-related delayed or forgone health care and emergency department (ED) visits among Latino adults in the US?In this cross-sectional study of 17 344 Latino adults aged 18 to 64 years from the National Health Interview Survey, cost-related delayed or forgone care was associated with 78% increased odds of ED visits. Latino adults born outside the US had 25% lower odds of ED use compared with US-born Latino adults.Cost-related delayed or forgone care was associated with increased ED visits among Latino adults, underscoring the need for policies that reduce financial barriers to timely care.
