Sessile Serrated Lesion Detection Rate and Colorectal Cancer Risk and Mortality

Is the sessile serrated lesion detection rate (SSLDR) associated with lower risk of postcolonoscopy colorectal cancer (PCCRC)?In this cohort study comprising 328 416 colonoscopies performed for 226 695 unique patients, the SSLDR was significantly associated with lower risk of PCCRC. The highest SSLDR quartile had a statistically significantly lower multivariate hazard ratio of 0.69 compared with the lowest quartile.This study’s findings suggest that the SSLDR should be used as a quality metric for colonoscopy.
