Is there an association between time to full enteral feeding and late-onset sepsis in extremely preterm infants? In this cohort study of 15 102 extremely preterm infants, each additional 1-week delay in achieving full enteral feeding was associated with a 16% higher relative risk of late-onset sepsis in adjusted analyses. These results suggest that delays in establishing full enteral feeding are associated with a higher risk of late-onset sepsis.
