Can a culturally tailored, faith-based lifestyle intervention reduce the incidence of type 2 diabetes (T2D) among adults with prediabetes in rural Bangladesh? In this cluster randomized clinical trial involving 799 adults with prediabetes, participants who received a 12-month, mosque-based, faith-integrated lifestyle intervention had a 43% relative risk reduction in T2D incidence compared with the control group. This trial found that a faith-based intervention decreased new-onset T2D incidence at 12 months, suggesting it may be an effective and scalable strategy for T2D prevention in low-resource, Muslim-majority communities.
