Can electromagnetic network targeting field (ENTF) stimulation combined with physical and occupational therapy improve functional recovery in patients with moderate to severe disability after ischemic stroke? In this randomized clinical trial of 100 patients, the change in disability level from baseline to day 90 after a stroke was numerically greater among patients in the active ENTF stimulation group than in the sham ENTF group, a difference that did not reach statistical significance. The trial was ended early after a planned interim analysis indicated results were not sufficiently promising to expand sample size. These findings suggest that further research is needed to investigate the potential effectiveness of ENTF stimulation for reducing global disability in patients with stroke.
