Is narcolepsy associated with an increased risk of all-cause and cause-specific mortality? In this cohort study of 3187 patients with narcolepsy, neither all-cause nor cause-specific (natural, unnatural, accidental, or suicide) mortality was elevated compared with 12 748 sex- and age-matched controls or 3287 siblings without narcolepsy. These findings suggest there is no association between narcolepsy and mortality; however, the findings warrant replication in diverse settings with continued clinical surveillance.
