Do women with premenstrual disorders (PMDs) have a lower quality of life compared with women without PMDs?In this population-based study of 17 284 women in Sweden, robust evidence from both cross-sectional and prospective analyses found that PMDs were associated with reduced health-related quality of life. This association remained significant after adjusting for potential confounders and stratifying by psychiatric and somatic comorbidities. These findings suggest that PMDs place a substantial burden on quality of life, emphasizing the need for improved disease management to enhance the well-being of affected women.
