Are solid-organ transplant recipients (SOTRs) at increased risk of nontuberculous mycobacterial disease (NTM-D) compared with the general population? In this population-based cohort study of 138 175 individuals in Ontario, lung and nonlung SOTRs had a significantly higher risk of developing NTM-D and faced increased mortality after diagnosis compared with matched individuals from the general population. These findings suggest that preventive and screening strategies are needed to reduce the risk of NTM-D in both lung and nonlung SOTRs.
