Adherence to Quality-of-Care Indicators and Mortality Outcomes in Patients With MRSA Bacteremia

Is clinical trial participation associated with improved adherence to 7 evidence-based quality-of-care indictors (QCIs) for methicillin-resistant (MRSA) bacteremia management and better clinical outcomes?In this post hoc analysis of a MRSA bacteremia trial, health care practitioners of 255 trial participants had an associated significantly higher mean number of adherent QCIs compared with practitioners of 467 contemporaneous nontrial patients. Exposure to trial-participating patients was not associated with changes in all-cause 90-day mortality.Trial participation may be associated with improved health care practitioner adherence to QCIs for MRSA bacteremia management but not with better mortality outcomes in patients.
