Treat-to-Target Urate-Lowering Treatment and Cardiovascular Outcomes in Patients With Gout

In patients with gout prescribed urate-lowering treatment, is achieving a serum urate level lower than 6 mg/dL associated with lower risk of cardiovascular events within 5 years?In this cohort study of 109 504 patients with gout, those who achieved serum urate levels lower than 6 mg/dL with urate-lowering treatment had a considerably lower risk of cardiovascular events than those who did not achieve this urate level.Treating gout to target serum urate level (ie, <6 mg/dL) was associated with a reduced risk of cardiovascular events.
