Methotrexate and Mycophenolate Mofetil and Clinical Response in Juvenile Localized Scleroderma

Is mycophenolate mofetil similar in treatment response to methotrexate in treating juvenile localized scleroderma (JLS)?In this cohort study that included 114 patients with JLS, methotrexate and mycophenolate mofetil were associated with decreased disease activity. There was no significant difference in the magnitude of decreased activity scores between the 2 treatments, and mycophenolate mofetil had significantly fewer adverse effects.The study results suggest that there were no observed differences in treatment response between methotrexate and mycophenolate mofetil in treating active JLS and sustaining inactive disease.
