What is known about the factors associated with acne among transmasculine patients, and where are gaps in knowledge to be addressed in future research? This scoping review of 38 articles found that acne prevalence for transmasculine patients ranged from 29.6% to 61.9%, depending on the methodology. Acne developed 6 to 12 months after initiating testosterone, and younger age was associated with acne while testosterone dosage and route of administration had no association with acne.Younger transmasculine patients may be more likely to develop acne; acne prevalence is high but variable among transmasculine patients, and further research should prioritize the role of testosterone modality and dosage.
