What factors do patients and caregivers value and prefer when choosing treatments for chronic urticaria (CU)?This systematic review of 18 studies involving 28 497 participants found that patients with CU prioritized rapid symptom improvement (within 2 weeks) and sustained control of hives, itch, and/or swelling. When considering treatments of similar effectiveness, patients preferred those with milder adverse effects (eg, kidney impairment, injection site reactions), less administration burden—oral or topical rather than injection or infusion—and more rapid onset. These systematically synthesized CU-specific values and preferences can be used to improve CU management and clinical practice guidelines.
