Seven-Year Valve Durability With Transcatheter or Surgical Aortic Valve Replacement

Are long-term outcomes following transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) similar to those following surgery?In this ad hoc analysis of the PARTNER 3 randomized clinical trial, the incidence rates at 7-year follow-up of structural valve dysfunction, bioprosthetic valve failure, and valve reintervention were low and similar for TAVR vs surgery.In low-risk patients with symptomatic severe aortic stenosis randomized to TAVR or surgery, 7-year follow-up showed similar valve durability between groups; these findings may inform discussions of valve replacement strategies.
