What are the contributions of common, rare, and somatic variations, and their association with the incidence of atrial fibrillation (AF)?This cohort study including 416 085 individuals demonstrated the individual and complementary roles of common, rare, and somatic variations for AF onset. The rare variants, polygenic score, and clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential enhanced the prediction of incident AF when added to clinical factors. Results suggest that leveraging comprehensive genetic information may aid in AF prevention and risk stratification.
