Is a higher cumulative cardiovascular health (CVH) score during young adulthood associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular and kidney events in midlife? In this cohort study of 241 924 adults in Korea, a 100-point × year higher cumulative CVH (Life’s Essential 8) score from 30 to 40 years of age was associated with lower hazard of midlife cardiovascular and kidney events by 34% and 35%, respectively. The findings suggest that a high cumulative CVH score (points × years) can serve as a useful target for primordial prevention, with earlier achievement and longer maintenance of a high CVH score associated with lower risks of premature cardiovascular and kidney events.
