This Viewpoint describes the value-based Ambulatory Specialty Model (ASM) recently announced by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services; summarizes ways in which the ASM addresses structural shortcomings of previous value-based models; and highlights several potential challenges to its success in achieving reform.
