Worldwide Seasonal Variation in Hospital Admissions for Diverticulitis

Does diverticulitis demonstrate a reproducible seasonal variation in incidence or hospital admissions across global populations?In this systematic review of 8 observational studies including 1 104 640 diverticulitis cases across 4 continents, seasonal peaks of up to 27% occurred, most commonly during summer or autumn.Diverticulitis exhibits consistent seasonal variation, suggesting that environmental or behavioral factors may be associated with disease onset and represent potential targets for prevention and health system planning.
