Psychiatric Documentation and Management in Primary Care With Artificial Intelligence Scribe Use

How are documentation and management of psychiatric symptoms in primary care outpatient visits different using artificial intelligence–driven ambient scribes vs human or no scribes?In this cohort study of more than 20 000 routine annual visits, ambient scribe use was associated with modestly greater documentation of neuropsychiatric symptoms but less likelihood of a depression-related intervention or diagnostic code.The extent to which use of ambient scribes may be associated with altered response to psychiatric symptoms by clinicians merits further investigation.
