Risk of Cardiovascular Disease in Parents of Children Diagnosed With Neurodevelopmental Disorders

Are parents of children with common neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) at increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD)?In this cohort study of 1 180 457 mothers and 882 619 fathers, exposure to common NDDs among offspring was associated with higher parental risk of CVD. The risk increased with the number of affected children and the presence of comorbidities.These findings suggest the need for enhanced cardiovascular risk assessment and support among parents of children with NDDs.
