Intracapsular vs Extracapsular Tonsillectomy Recovery Time

Is the recovery time from intracapsular tonsillectomy shortened compared to extracapsular tonsillectomy in 16- to 65-year-old patients with recurrent tonsillitis or chronic tonsillitis?This 3-arm randomized clinical trial of 179 patients aged 16 to 65 years of age did not show a statistically significant difference in recovery time among the treatment groups. The pain intensity and pain interference were lower after intracapsular tonsillectomy.The findings of this trial suggest that the recovery after intracapsular tonsillectomy may have less morbidity, and the total recovery times were similar.
