Biochemical Profile of and Factors Associated With Recurrence in Primary Hyperparathyroidism

What does the biochemical profile of patients with primary hyperparathyroidism reveal?In this cohort study of 1202 patients who underwent parathyroidectomy for primary hyperparathyroidism, single-gland disease and improved preoperative image localization were more likely among patients with a high level of parathyroid hormone (≥100 pg/mL) vs those with lower levels.Low baseline parathyroid hormone levels may be an independent risk factor for the presence of multigland disease and suboptimal localization on preoperative imaging.
