Aflibercept 8 mg in Polypoidal Choroidal Vasculopathy

What is the efficacy and safety of aflibercept 8 mg vs 2 mg in participants with indocyanine green angiography–confirmed polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV)?In this post hoc analysis of the Study of the Effects of High-Dose Aflibercept Injected Into the Eye of Patients With an Age-Related Disorder That Causes Loss of Vision Due to Growth of Abnormal Blood Vessels at the Back of the Eye (PULSAR) phase 3 randomized clinical trial among 139 participants with PCV, mean best-corrected visual acuity changes from baseline at week 48 were similar between the treatment arm receiving aflibercept, 8 mg (which allowed shortening of dosing intervals if predefined disease criteria were met at prespecified visits), and the treatment arm receiving aflibercept, 2 mg.These results support the use of aflibercept, 8 mg, monotherapy as an alternative to aflibercept, 2 mg, for PCV.
