JC Virus–Related Retinopathy

Is the JC polyomavirus potentially associated with vision loss due to retinal infection rather than just the cortical visual changes typically reported in patients with progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy?In this case report, we report a patient who exhibited isolated unilateral retinopathy related to JC polyomavirus infection of the retinal ganglion cell layer.Testing for JC polyomavirus should be considered in immunocompromised patients presenting with retinopathy of unexplained etiology.
