RETRACTED: Personality Traits and Social Isolation in Older Adults

What is the association between personality traits and the risk of social isolation among older adults in the US?In this cohort study of 2672 community-dwelling older adults from the National Health and Aging Trends Study (NHATS), agreeableness and extraversion were associated with lower social isolation at 3 years. At 6 and 9 years, neuroticism and conscientiousness were associated with higher risk, but these associations were not significant after adjusting for demographic and health covariates.These findings suggest that personality traits may help inform identification of older adults at higher risk for social isolation.
